The newly rebuilt House of Capper was completed earlier this year. Built in the architectural style of the original structure from 1916, this historical landmark of the Kansas State Fairgrounds is now equipped with a state-of-the-art audio and lighting system and boasts a beautiful educational park, complete with story-boards and immaculate landscaping.
Named for Arthur Capper, the first native-born Kansas Governor and U.S. Senator who spearheaded the Capper-Volstead Act, the park is the only exhibit in the United States dedicated to cooperatives and the Capper-Volstead act of 1922.
The original build date of 1916 makes it one of the oldest existing structures on the fairgrounds. It has formerly been used as a shaded place to rest, the Professional Arts Building and even a bandstand at one time. With 1,295 square feet of covered space, this building is perfect for an outdoor wedding or other get-together. There is access to electricity and if restrooms are needed we can accommodate that as well. Beautiful landscaping surrounds this area as well as the interactive water fountains sitting directly to the North.
