Makayla Brownlee is an emerging singer/songwriter from Southern Kansas. She has been charming crowds at fairs, festivals and live music events since she was seven years old.
In 2019 Makayla entered the open call auditions for American Idol in Wichita, Kansas. From there she advanced to Sunriver, Oregon to audition for the celebrity judges, where she was sent packing for Hollywood with three yeses and the famous Golden Ticket.
Makayla’s inspirational performance of Kasey Musgraves’ “Rainbow”, during the final round of Hollywood Week turned out to be one of the televised highlights of Season 18 (2020). It brought international attention to Makayla’s rare medical condition and launched her into the spotlight of American Idol’s Top 40, where she performed at The Aulani Disney Resort in Hawaii.
Since her success on American Idol, Makayla has filmed a music video, and has written and released numerous original songs. Her gift for writing captivating music has earned her invitations to some prestigious song writer performance venues, including The Local Nashville.
